This is a technique taken from ACT, which stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It can be helpful when we are stressed or worried about something to 'unhook' ourselves or 'defuse'. Take a look at how to do that here

What are your values? What do you value most? As a doctor, what will your values be? Clarifying your values can help guide your actions, especially during stressful or uncertain times. Values help you make decisions that are aligned with what matters most, stay motivated during challenging times and build resilience. Try the values clarification exercise here.

This is a technique taken from ACT, which stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It can be helpful to 'drop the anchor' when you're feeling anxious, panicked, or emotionally flooded or when you're caught in a loop of unhelpful thoughts or if you need to pause and reorient before taking action. It is for these reasons that dropping the anchor can be particularly useful for medical students - give it a go here
